I learned saddle making from my father Chester Hape who was a master at his craft and built hundreds of saddles in his life. He taught me the key is to start with a quality tree that fits the horse and then shape a seat onto it that fits the rider. I work with a number of proven tree makers to fit any budget or need.

Being raised on a working cattle ranch taught me the importance of function, fit and durability of saddles and tack. I have used horses and gear extensively. Working livestock, roping, showing in the arena and packing and hunting.

My goal when making any gear is to work with the client to build something that fits their specific needs, will last, and be treasured.
